The reason that Metal Casting has survived the test of time is a matter of efficiency. Some of the earliest examples of cast iron have been found in China dating back thousands of years. Gravity casting seems to be particularly useful when it is aluminum and other light alloys. The basic idea behind this casting process is almost exactly what its name implies. The metal is introduced into the mold by the force of gravity. More casting processes others may use both natural and pressure difference of the class in certain sand casting procedures or use forced pressure like in the molten metal into the mold centrifugal casting.
One of the most common uses for gravity casting is when permanent molds are going to use.
